Rediweld delivered a bespoke surface-mounted rubber kerb system to protect newly installed structural brackets within a reinforced concrete car park undergoing repair works.
The Challenge
Structural repairs introduced steel support brackets exceeding 50 kg, installed above and below beams across multiple deck levels. These protruding elements created a risk of vehicle impact and reduced visibility within a confined, operational car park environment, while works needed to proceed with minimal disruption.
Advanced Building Contractors were appointed to assist with the installation of a stainless steel and carbon fibre wrap system to repair the structural supports at each deck level of a reinforced concrete car park. The steel brackets weighed in excess of 50kg each and were required to be installed both above and below the supporting beams before being stress tensioned. This presented a significant on-site challenge, as the protruding brackets created a potential hazard to both vehicles and pedestrians, with poor visibility for moving traffic within the car park.
To mitigate this risk, Rediweld supported ABC by supplying and installing a bespoke mitred kerb protection system around each bracket location. The kerbs clearly defined the parking bays, improved visibility for drivers, and provided a robust physical barrier to prevent vehicle impact.
The completed kerb system has not only enhanced safety and traffic management within the car park, but also offers long-term protection to the structural brackets, ensuring the integrity and durability of the repair solution.

The Solution
A mitred Harlow Kerb system was installed around each bracket location, forming defined protection zones that act as both a visual and physical barrier.
Product Detail: Harlow Kerb
Harlow Kerb is a rigid, non-flexible rubber kerb, designed for straight runs and specialist protection applications.
- Length: 914 mm
- Height: 150 mm
- Profile: Fixed, non-flexible
- Installation: Surface-mounted, mechanically fixed
Its fixed profile made it suitable for forming precise, repeatable enclosures around each structural element.
Installation
The kerb units were mechanically fixed directly to the concrete deck and arranged in bespoke mitred layouts around each structural bracket. Tarmac infill, completed by the client, created a solid internal area, while Jislon Pole Cones were fitted to enhance visibility and improve driver awareness.
Result
The installation provides clear physical protection for structural brackets, improves driver visibility in confined areas, reduces the risk of vehicle impact, and delivers a durable, low-maintenance solution while allowing the car park to remain operational throughout the works.
